2022 Primary Election

Early voting for the June 28th Primary Election begins on May 19th. We hope and pray that Christian voters in Illinois will come out in droves to cast their ballots in support of pro-life, pro-family candidates. Prior to going to the polls, make sure you know where your candidates stand on issues important to people of faith by checking out IFI’s voting resources, which includes the Voter Guide.

Illinois Family Action is today announcing its list of “endorsed” candidates. At the top of the ticket is the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. We are delighted to endorse Kathy Salvi, a strong advocate for the sanctity of life, and a strong defender of religious liberty.

In November, the Republican nominee will face Democrat incumbent Tammy Duckworth. She must go. She has been a federal government employee for sixteen interminable years, and Illinois now ranks at the bottom of the barrel of states on virtually every measure. Duckworth is so extreme that she voted nay to the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in 2019.

This legislative proposal would have required, in “the case of an attempted abortion that results in a child born alive, any health care practitioner present at the time the child is born alive shall exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.”

How can any reasonable person oppose medical care for babies who survive abortion?

A key race for the U.S. House of Representatives features businessman James Marter who is trying to break out of a crowded race in the 14th District and has been endorsed by former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. Likewise, we are thrilled to endorse Illinois’ only Freedom Caucus member Mary Miller, who is running for the 15th District. It is important to note that Miller has secured the endorsement of former president Donald Trump, the National Rifle Association, Freedom Works, and Family Research Council Action to name a few.

Darren Bailey has received our hearty endorsement for the race of governor. Not once did he succumb to peer pressure, insults, or mockery, common tactics of the bipartisan combine, while serving in both the state house and senate. He has been a valiant voice for pro-life, pro-family issues. Bailey is a committed Christian who seeks to put Christ before and in everything he does. His faith is what makes him a conservative.

Bailey unabashedly believes in the sanctity of human life. He has steadily fought against the egregious, anti-life legislation in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly, and IFA does not doubt that he will be the best advocate for pre-born human beings that the office of governor of Illinois has ever seen.

If you want a bold, commonsense nominee who shares our Christian pro-life, pro-family, small government principles, Darren Bailey is the clear choice. Bailey is a champion with a clear track record. Courageous. Bold. Determined. Honest. Trustworthy. Genuine. These words describe Darren Bailey.

In the Illinois House District 75, we are elated to endorse Jed Davis, a courageous man of faith and Christian school board member. Also noteworthy is former State Representative John Cabello‘s decision to run for the newly drawn 90th House District. Both of these candidates have proven to be bold pro-family voices on key family and social issues.

This primary election is critical for the direction of pro-family issues in Illinois. We support these candidates because they have articulated a personal commitment, or have a proven public-voting record on pro-family bedrock principles.

Please vote in the primary, and urge friends, neighbors, and family members to do likewise. We have been blessed with the privilege of self-government. Don’t squander it.

Illinois must get rid of lawmakers like Tammy Duckworth and JB Pritzker who heartily endorse human slaughter, the sexual integration of private spaces, and economic policies that gouge taxpayers and have resulted in a mass exodus from Illinois, which, in turn, further burdens the remaining Illinoisans.

We look forward to working with these candidates to advance pro-family policies once they are in office.  Below is a comprehensive list of our picks:

Additional Thoughts

Most of our readers will agree that the Illinois Republican Party suffers from a number of problems, including these:

1.) Failure to act and speak with courage, conviction, and consistency on the dismissively called “social issues.”

2.) Failure even to recognize that the dismissively called “social issues” are critical issues. In fact, they are issues more critical to the welfare of its families, the state and country than, for example, tax rates and pension sanity. No country that fails to recognize the nature of marriage and family, the importance of religious liberty, the rights of children, or the dignity and worth of all human life can flourish.

Fortunately, there are yet men and women who are wise and courageous, recognizing and standing firm for truth even against bracing political winds. Wise and courageous men and women who defend the lives of those that others have decided are unworthy of life deserve our vigorous and vocal support. That is why we are pleased to endorse or recommend the candidates listed above.

Please make every effort to cast your ballot on or before November 6th to ensure that the best candidates are elected.

Lastly, it is important to point out that if conservatives fail to vote in any election, we enable the Progressive Left to take the reins of government, which means bigger government and less individual freedom. This is a dangerous proposition, as the Left seems to be moving steadily further out on the left-wing of the political spectrum, and now is openly embracing socialism.

We cannot remain silent and/or indifferent in the face of this destructive agenda.

2018 Primary Election

There are several contested primary races for the Illinois General Assembly due in part to the number of retiring members of the General Assembly. Turnover in such a legislative body is welcomed, but not if the new candidates turn out to be influenced by Leftist ideology which puts them on the wrong side of legislation that impacts the family.

We strongly encourage you to vote in the March 20th primary election. Prior to going to the polls, make sure that you know where your candidates stand on life, marriage (defined by God), and religious freedom.

For that reason, Illinois Family Action is today announcing its list of “endorsed” and “recommended” candidates. The difference between endorsed candidates and recommended candidates is that the latter fall short of our endorsement but get a nod as the better candidate in the race.

The premier contest in Illinois this spring is in the Republican gubernatorial primary, where West Point graduate, mother of five and economic and social conservative Jeanne Ives takes on the incumbent governor who has signed too many Leftist inspired bills and failed to lead on the state budget. IFA enthusiastically endorses Jeanne Ives for Governor.

There are two U.S. House primary contests, and in one IFA endorses the incumbent, in the other, the challenger to the incumbent. In the 18th District IFA endorses Congressman Darin LaHood, whose voting record on pro-family issues continues to be solid. In the 16th District, IFA endorses businessman James Marter who is challenging an incumbent whose voting record that has repeatedly disappointed IFA supporters.

In the Illinois House of Representatives, Republican leader Jim Durkin, a 20 year incumbent of the 92nd District, is being challenged by long-time Republican activist Mickey Straub. who also happens to be the mayor of the Village of Burr Ridge.  Leader Durkin has proven to be unreliable on key social issues, even voting to approve of transgender birth certificates.  Staub on the other hand, has been involved in pro-life and pro-family meetings and has support other conservative candidates running for office.

In addition to Illinois House races, there is one Illinois State Senate race in which we endorse. In that race, the nod goes to Jason Plummer. Plummer is a businessman and former statewide candidate, Republican County Chairman and a solid advocate of pro-family issues. He is running in the 54th District, filling the vacancy left by self-term limited social and economic conservative Kyle McCarter.

This primary election is critical for the direction of life, marriage, and family issues in Illinois. We support these candidates because they have articulated personal commitment to pro-life and pro-marriage principles, or have a proven public-voting record that demonstrates a commitment to these bedrock principles.

We look forward to working with these candidates to advance pro-family policies once they are in office.  Below is a comprehensive list of our picks:

Illinois Statewide Races:
